I am 5’1", i weigh 94 pounds, & 13 years old OH! AND IM A 7TH GRADE GIRL, i do a lot of ab work at night & few push ups -because of summer-. I am in conditioning at school. my teacher is one of the track coaches.
This is my first year of doing track and i would love every advice you may give me..
SO. today at track practice, i got SUPER distracted by this guy who fell & i asked him if he was okay then i fell also.. not on top of him i was in the middle of jumping over the hurdle then i asked if he was okay.. i do not stutter step but only a tiny bit, i am improving greatly to not stutter step.. I am covered in ointment while i type this..
-i did not have spikes on, however, i WILL buy spikes very soon.. as in tomorrow.-
i do know FOR FACT that i am doing the 200 meter hurdles on MONDAY. i have 4 days to practice & heal for the first track meet!:D & i am going last.. but i will try to be warm and stretch as often before my turn.
my time for 400 meters is 74 seconds.. but i can do A LOT better now..
i believe i have a GREAT AMOUNT OF ENERGY/endurance with or without food.
ANYWAY.
you know what had happened. & i would love advice..
the tips i got so far-from coaches & friends- are:
-take longer strides
-don’t stutter step
-karate kick the hurdle as if it was my older brother
-pump the arms
-keep the higher body low to increase speed..
-drink lots of water..
however the questions are:
-how do i become better?
-people say that i shake my head a bit..
-my leading/karate leg is my right when im left handed.
-how do i make my left arm come around instead of the right when i jump?
-how can i NOT get distracted & bite it like today?
this happened multiple times.. like my friends would say GO -name-! then i just run into the hurdle.
-make the BEST time at the meet?! or be the first one at the finish lune for 200m hurdles?!
AND LASTLY.
how do i make the fastest time?! like tips on running faster?!
-i thought 200 meters hurdles would be perfect because i am very good at medium long distance & long sprinting.. never really a sprinter.
ANYWAY
hurdling advice is wonderful..
PLEASE be honest..
im getting nike spikes btw.
